The King William neighborhood is Texas’ first residential historic district, and the 2023 Fair medal celebrates the uniqueness of the area. The medal features the famed King William Park Gazebo, with charms displaying a 139-year-old King William home built of limestone and styled with verandah brackets; King Wilhelm I of Prussia (whom the neighborhood was named in honor of); and a beer stein in ode to the German immigrants who settled in the area. The ribbon drape displays the King William Fair’s official colors, and a gold king’s/queen’s crown embellished with sparkling jewels adorns atop the medal.
